White pines left untrimmed tend to get “leggy” and lose the dense, bushy shape that they start with when smaller. As the branches get longer, they become more prone to breakage from snow load, and high winds.

We have trimmed this White Pine in North Kingstown, RI, three times during the past 20 years. Although this tree is more than four stories tall, it is still perfectly shaped, densely branched, and retains its lush, low foliage.
